Super Bowl 50 Movie Trailer Round Up

Super Bowl 50

The Super Bowl itself may not have been the great sporting spectacle the 160 million odd viewers wanted it to be however we were not let down by a whole host of new movie trailers to keep us entertained. We've taken a look at all the films on show for you.

The Jungle Book
This was the biggest star of the night, Disney's 2016 live action remake of The Jungle book. Directed by Iron Man's, Jon Favreau and starring Idris Elba, Scarlett Johansson, Ben Kingsley, Bill Murray and Christopher Walken. We were treated to a 2 minute trailer showcasing how this new reincarnation of the classic children's cartoon was going to look. Live action with talking animals, Idris Elba as Shere Kahn. Oh me oh my. IT DIDN'T DISAPPOINT!

Jason Bourne
Matt Damon is back for the latest sequel in the action packed Bourne franchise. Following a spin off with Jeremy Renner as the leading man, Damon is well and truly back to remind us all why we all missed him in the first place. With lines like "the world is at war" and "we need the perfect weapon" don't expect this to be a sleepy affair...

Captain America: Civil War
While DC Comics is pitted the public against each other to choose a side in the Supes vs Batman match up, Marvel are also asking us to pick sides. Here, the Avengers duo Steve Rogers' Captain America and Tony Stark's Iron Man go head to head and it looks like things aren't going to go all the tin man's way this time!

Independence Day: Resurgence
Another film another remake. With this film, again I had all but written off upon its announcement but lo and behold colour me intrigued after this all out intergalactic action trailer for Independence Day: Resurgence.  Will Smith may have been replaced by Thor's younger, less hammer handy brother Liam Hemsworth but old favourites from 1996, Jeff Goldblum and Bill Pullman are on hand to help lend a hand. They will not go quietly into the night.....

X-Men: Apocalypse
So it might feel like 2016 is all about super heroes and sequels.... Well you'd be kinda right. The third instalment of the rebooted prequel X-Men franchise sees the next generations of the franchise taking on their toughest challenge yet in the actor who is in every single hit film, Oscar Isaac's Apocalypse. Expect cameo's from Hugh Jackman's Wolverine and Halle Berry's Storm.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turles 2: Out of the Shadows
Michael Bay continues his attempts to revive the Turtles franchise after the limp debut of TMNT in 2014. Expect more comedy, kid friendly dialogue and Arrow's Stephen Amell as the hockey stick wielding vigilante Casey Jones. Fans of the franchise, apparently there are some, will enjoy the introduction of Bebop and Rocksteady plus there's a trip down memory lane for those who loved the original cartoon series in the form of evil nemesis pink brain, Krang. And if none of that is of interest,  there's always Megan Fox in a school girl outfit to really show she has moved on from Transformers....

Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice
In the weirdest trailer of the night, Warner Bros created two fictional airline advertisements for two unusual destinations, Metropolis (home of one red caped new journo) and Gotham (where Batman hangs his mask). While Turkish Airlines is real and an official partner of the film, I am not sure they are going to get a huge spike in tourism to those destinations after seeing those angry laser beams coming from a pissed off Batman!

10 Cloverfield Lane
A new Cloverfield movie is happening. Do we know in any way, shape or form what it actually is about? Hell no. Do we still want to see it? Hell yes! John Goodman seems to be in the Joseph Fritzel role as captor to a young lady in a makeshift bomb shelter. No doubt to keep out whatever monster is seen poking his head around the house at the end.... Who you gonna call? Oh wait, wrong movie.

Alice Through the Looking Glass
After Tim Burton's brilliant first outing with Alice in Wonderland, the sequel looks set to be no worse the wear for the notoriously dark director's departure. Expect star turns from Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Anne Hathaway, Alice herself, Mia Wasikowska and of course the late great Alan Rickman.

Deadpool
No big budget occasion would be complete without a Deadpool mention. It seems 20th Century Fox have got a pot of never ending money when it comes to the marketing budget for this film. With the movie's release set for this Friday it was no surprise to see the X rated comedic Super Hero in the ranks. Ryan Reynolds makes a hail mary pass on this movie, one more Super Hero flop and his time in this genre is done! Fear not, it looks awesome.

The Secret Life of Pets
Last but not least, this ORIGINAL (yes movie studios are brave enough to not make a sequel now and again) children's cartoon looks sets to have some tails wagging with it's funny take on what are pets really get up to behind closed doors. Kevin Hart, Lake Bell, Steve Coogan are all in the ranks of voice over duties on this one. If Despicable Me is anything to go by (Chris Renaud directed that and this), I suspect this will be a big hit with the kids.
